Rider Attire Includes:
Helmet/Hard Hat

All riders must wear an ASTM/SEI (American Society for Testing and Materials /Safety Equipment Institute) helmet. The helmet will be marked with the ASTM/SEI stamp on the inside and the date it was manufactured. The helmet should fit correctly, and the chin strap should be adjusted snugly. This is the most important piece of equipment!
Boots
There are many types of boots available in a variety of materials that are safe to use. If you are uncertain check with your coach, before purchasing a pair of boots. The shoe or boot should be high enough to support the ankle. It should have a heel so that the foot cannot advance too far in the stirrup, and the sole should be rigid for comfort and protection.
Tall Boots are available in leather and in rubber. Rubber boots make it harder to keep your heel down when riding. It is important to buy tall boots that are high enough but that do not interfere with the rider’s knee when bent and large enough in the calf area.

Short Boots/Paddock Boots
These boots are generally worn with jodhpurs and half chaps.

Winter Boots
There are a variety of winter boots, make sure that the stirrup irons are wide enough to accommodate a winter boot.
