COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to provide the student with the skills needed to properly care for horses in training, boarding, or breeding facilities. Lesson topics include everything from building and/or owning a small barn to operating an equestrian facility.

Upon completing this course you will be able to;

• Understand the difference between running a private or public facility.
• Establish a good risk management procedure for your stable.
• Establish a daily feeding schedule for the care of your horse(s).
• Define what type of turnout your stable will run.
• Establish a good manure management disposal program
• Understand the importance of a good hay supplier.
• Define what type of bedding will be used.
• Understand what is involved in operating a facility including clients, employees, bookkeeping, etc.

This course will be of interest to all owners or future equestrian stable owners who wish to improve their knowledge and skill in the basics of good equine business practices.
