Introduction
The Western Rider 1-4 Program, offered by Equestrian Canada, provides a structured learning path for riders of all levels, from recreational to competitive, to develop safe horsemanship and riding skills. Participants progress through levels by completing written and riding exams administered by certified coaches or instructors. Successful completion of each level earns riders a certificate and badge, and can also contribute to high school credits. The program emphasizes enjoyment and knowledge acquisition, while also supporting the development of future coaches and instructors.
